Greenguard
GREENGUARD certification on window coverings is a third-party environmental and health safety standard. It means the product has been tested for chemical emissions, particularly volatile organic compounds (VOCs), which can negatively affect indoor air quality.
What It Is
GREENGUARD (administered by UL Environment) is a certification program for building materials, furniture, finishes, and consumer products.
For window coverings, it ensures fabrics, coatings, adhesives, or finishes release very low levels of VOCs.
Why It Matters
Indoor Air Quality: Many people spend most of their time indoors. Products with high VOC emissions can cause headaches, allergies, or respiratory issues.
Health & Safety: GREENGUARD helps confirm the product is safe for schools, healthcare facilities, and homes, especially for sensitive populations (children, elderly). Green Building Credits: GREENGUARD-certified window coverings may contribute to points in LEED, WELL, and other sustainable building rating systems.
